Please note that this photos have been taken on the latest day of build and before press day.
Mine was a very quick visit, but I think to have already spotted 3 recurring trends in this year gardens:

1) Mediterranean Feeling
2) Upcycled
3) Enviromentally-Friendly

Do you agree with me? Which one is your favourite?
Bisous,
Noemi

Mercurelli's update!

Hellooo and welcome back at Mercurelli's :)

I am sooo excited about all the fantastic events going on...it is all happening so quickly that it is getting hard to keep the blog updated, so thanks again to all the garden-enthusiasts who keep following me daily on Facebook and Twitter :)

{Garden Design consultation for the Chelsea Fringe!}

I left you at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. What happened after? :)

{Planting at the latest RHS Chelsea Flower Show for Marie-Louise Agius and Michael Balston}

I re-embraced my busy busy schedule and I continued my collaborations with the Botanical Gardener, the Garden Museum, and most of all with Classic and Modern Gardens, the hectic studio of Stephen Anthony Ryan, where we are getting ready for the bulding of 'August 1963: I have a dream' Show Garden at Hampton Court. The studio has now welcome a new member and it has never been so busy in delivering Bespoke Garden Design and Landscape services!

{The busy life of a Garden Designer: On site in the morning, meeting with clients in the afternoon!}

Has if the RHS Hampton Court Flower Festival wasn't exciting enough on its own, Stephen's studio is involved in some grand projects both private and commercial...I feel very lucky to be part of the team and to design for such a firm!
Since the last update I also took part to the Chelsea Fringe Garden Festival (Picture above)...and I got pubblished on Vitis, the 'inside' magazine of the Society of Garden Designers...

Not bad for a little Sardinian Girl, eh? ;)

FREE DESIGN CONSULTATIONS {Chelsea Fringe}, RHS Chelsea Flower Show...and even more! :)

Hello and welcome back at Mercurelli's Garden Design Blog! :)

Phew what incredible two weeks! They have probably been the two fastest weeks of my life... and I can't believe they are almost over! :) Most of my energies were shared between the RHS Chelsea Flower Show (will tell you about it in a minute!) and the VERY busy studio of Stephen Anthony Ryan, involved in some very ambitious projects! ;) I also made space for a very pleasant evening at the Garden Museum for the 'Green Fuse: The Work of Dan Pearson' Private View, which was absolutely stunning and that really deserve a visit, if you get the chance to go!

{Green Fuse: Dan Pearson exhibition at the Garden Museum}

I keep wondering where all the energies which are necessary to embrace all of this come from and I keep finding the answer in the HUGE amount of LOVE I have for my profession! :) But I would also like to say THANK YOU to all who kept following me on Twitter and on Facebook, I really appreciated your support and I feel full of energy for the upcoming RHS Hampton Court Flower Show! GRAZIE MILLE!

{East Village Garden at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2013}

As anticipated, during these past two weeks I had the pleasure and honour to work at the (Gold Medallist!) 'East Village' Garden by Marie-Louis Agius and Michael Balston, helping with the planting during the last building week and with the promotion of the garden during the show week {you can follow the construction here on their Pinterest Board}. These means I had the great opportunity to take some incredible pictures of the various show gardens before the official opening to the public ;)

Some of them are on my Facebook album already, but many more are to come with a small series on Chelsea, where I will share my favourites and some good idea to take home :) So make sure to follow me by email to receive all the upcoming posts on both RHS Chelsea and Hampton Court Flower Shows! :)

I also take the opportunity to invite you at the Idler Academy this coming Saturday: as part of the Chelsea Fringe , me and other KLC Alumni will offer FREE GARDEN DESIGN ADVICE SESSIONS for your garden! :) No need to book, just pop in with some pictures of your garden, grab a cut of tea...and let us make wonders! ;)

SEE YOU THERE! ;)

Updates, Chelsea Fringe, Chelsea & Hampton Court Flower Shows!

WELCOME BACK at Mercurelli's!!!! :D

After a busy and very productive silence (as you will see shortly!), I am back on the keyboard to share the joys, the challenges and the great events of a London-based Garden Designer's life!

But...what happened in these past 7 weeks? And why have I been so silent?
Who follows me on Twitter and Facebook might had some clues already ! ;)

{a 'clue' from one of my tweets}

Since my latest post, a lot of exciting events happened!

I started working for 'The Botanical Gardener'...

...going on site with Ben of Breathe Garden Design to better understand the role, the challenges and the 'tricks of the trade' of a Landscape Contractor...

Ben Wilkinson
{Ben and his team are really hardworkers!!!!}

...and I started working with Stephen Anthony Ryan!!!

{Stephen' A. Ryan's Logo}

Stephen is a succesful Garden Designer based in Beaconsfield that after completed  his studies at KLC School of Design, a course with John Brookes, and a work experience in the studio of Marcus Barnett, launched 'Stephen Anthony Ryan Classic and Modern Gardens', a very busy Garden Design Studio based in Buckinghamshire. He is also exhibiting at the RHS Hampton Court Flower Show 2013 with his 'August 1963: I Have A Dream' Show Garden. No wonder that between his Design Work and the Show Garden he needed some extra help (alias ME!!!) :) :) :) :) :) It is a very exciting experience and I am willing to share with you as much as possible about his projects and the 'behind-the-scene' of the show garden, so keep following me! ;)

{August 1963: I Have A Dream'

And if all of these wasn't exciting enough.....what would you say if I tell you that I keep working and volunteering for the great Garden Museum on monthly basis, that I am taking part in June to the Chelsea Fringe with a FREE DESIGN SESSION at the Idler Academy, and that in few hours I will start planting at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show?!?!?!?!?! :) :) :)

Where do I find the energies for all this?!?'. The answer is the greatest passion for my job which I deeply deeply love and in the lovely feedbacks from clients and readers like you, which help going on even in the busiest times! ;)

Want to receive/read the latest updates about the RHS Chelsea Flower Show and my Design Work? If so, subscribe to the Blog Posts , or join me on Facebook and Twitter for the lastest news and pictures !!! :)

Wish you a great week,
Baci/Bisous/Kisses,

RHS Hampton Court Flower Show - part3

One of the best thing of RHS Shows is the opportunity to see and questioning about new plants and cultivars, or maybe just discover again a forgotten species.

Today I want to share with you some of the plants that drawn my attention and that will look fab in a whenever a touch of white is required! :D

 {Agapanthus 'Tinkerbell' - a blue-flowered Agapanthus, but with unusual cream-variegated leaves, I find it very elegant, as the similar form named 'Silver Moon' - Pic source: www.smgrowers.com}
{ Acer Palmatum 'Oridono-nishiki' - This unusual Acer, shows variegated leaves with a hint of pink that recall me one other of my favourite plants: Actinidia kolomikta -  Pic source: http://www.pudelko.com.pl }

{Eryngium planum 'Jade Frost' - The Eryngium is a popular star of these last summers, and it is also well appreciated by our buzzing little friends, but it is not common to find one with a white-creamish rim like this! - Pic source: www.plantipp.eu}

{ Lunaria annua 'Variegata' - I love the fruits of this plant! Even more now that I can have them on a variegated-leaves plant! :D -  Pic source}

I also felt in love with:

  • Fuchsia 'Roualeyns White Gold', a 2012 novelty from Roualeyns nursery;
  • Myrtus communis tarentina 'Variegata', a fragrant and decorative bush whose scent will project you in a Mediterranean paradise;
  • Ornithogalum magnum, a very big Ornithogalum, as the name suggest!
  • Phalaris arundinacea 'Feesy', a very good-looking and ornamental grass;
  • Rhodohypoxis baurii, a little bulbous that I am sure will surprise you;

And last but not least, Thulbaghia violacea 'Silver Lace', that increased my love for Thulbaghias and that I can already see in my dream garden, in company of some Agapanthus 'Silver Moon'....

Ok, that day is a bit far away but..hey! Let me dream!!! :D

And what about you? Were there some plants that captured your heart at Hampton Court Flower Show?

Early post on Hampton Court Flower Show!

I really can not wait until Thursday to share my joy! :)

After a long day of exams (Garden History, Construction, Plant Science and Horticulture), I received some really good news!!!! :) :) :)

This year, in the list of award winners of the Hampton Court Flower Show, three already-know faces/names appear!

They are Anoushka Feiler, Gold medal and Best Show Garden with her 'Bridge Over Troubled Water'...

{source}

...Jo Hanslip, Silver medal with her 'Free Fall'...

{source}

... and last but not least, Matthew Childs, Gold medal and Best Conceptual Garden with his 'Light at the end of the tube'!

{source}

Matthew is one of our lecturer (and my rescuer during some past CAD lessons :D), and all of them were Garden Design students at KLC...... Will I follow their footsteps? Let's work hard and hope so!
